Bauman to facilitate Global Forum on Innovation in Health Professional Education at the Institute of Medicine

Dr. Eric B. Bauman is honored to accept an invitation for a second year to participate in Improving Health Professional Education and Practice Through Technology, a workshop of the National Academies of Science in Washington D.C on November 16-17. He is among 30 global experts in the healthcare profession who are working to bridge the gap between education and practice using modern methods and technology.

This meeting endeavors to improve healthcare access and outcomes through innovation and collaboration between the many disciplines within clinical education. Dr. Bauman intends to share strategies from his research into the rapidly growing field of game-based learning, virtual reality, and simulation. He will co-facilitate two interactive sessions with Dr. Pam Jeffries, Dean and Professor of the School of Nursing at George Washington University.

During this critical juncture in the direction of our country’s healthcare system, as well as global initiatives and processes related to health professions education, instructional methods that go beyond the textbook are needed to bring the best solutions to bear in healthcare and clinical education.
