MODSIM World Canada 2011 Conference and Expo will take place in Ottawa from June 20-22. The event organizers describe it as an “international summit for
disseminating recent advances in the field of system modeling and simulation.” Health, medical and biotech are the topics of one of its four tracks this year. Registration will open in March. Check out their site for more information. Be sure to note the link at the bottom of the page with instructions for submitting papers and presentations of your own.

SiTEL is hosting their 4th annual education conference, this year subtitled “Mindful Learning.” Follow the link to get to their registration page where you can read all about the conference. It takes place on April 11 in Washington, DC. The brochure makes the conference content sound like a good mix of simulator- and game-based theory. Register before March 10th for a 20% discount.

Lastly, the 25th annual Game Developer Conference begins next Monday, February 28th. This is notable to healthcare educators because the first day of the conference will include a Serious Games Summit focused on healthcare games and the first three days of the conference will include talks on gaming in education as part of the Education Summit. None of the offerings are specific to healthcare education this year, but it’s only a matter of time. Perhaps one of our faithful readers will submit a presentation along those lines to next year’s GDC?
