HPSN was a whirlwind.  I finally arrived in Tampa Tuesday afternoon in time to catch the later half of the Tuesday conference offerings, spend 45 minutes in the sun at the pool, and have Dinner with my good friends from the Netherlands, Joris Broeren and Michiel Schutter and their colleagues. Tuesday afternoon Shirley Huchins, MSN, RN  gave a great talk titled: Social Learning Strategies for Simulation Learning applications. It was good to see a presentation on nursing education that emphasized the

So getting out of the Madison, Wisconsin would have involved buses and standby tickets from Madison to Tampa.  I’m scheduled for a 5:15AM flight again on Tuesday.  The presentation titled Simulation-Based Resuscitation: Team Leadership is still scheduled to take place on Wed February 22 at the METI HPSN Conference.  It is snowing again so we will see… If all goes well I should be wheels down in Tampa around Noon tomorrow.

Abe Megahed and Marty Gustafson have both joined Clinical Playground, LLC as associates.  Both Marty and Abe work in the Hypercosm™ division of ORBITEC located in Madison, WI. This is something of a reciprocal collaboration as Clinical Playground, LLC managing member Eric B. Bauman recently became an associate of Orbitec.  This said, the addition of Marty and Abe to our “Players” list enhances the the depth and breadth of expertise

The first day of the SSH Consensus Summit is over.  A phenomenal amount of work was accomplished on a variety of topic areas pertinent to the advancement of simulation-based research and education.  Monographs for ten topic areas have been written, tweaked, and revised based on panelists interpretation of the state of the simulation-based literature and participant interaction with panelists. This interaction and ensuing discussion has been an important collaborative step in the consensus process.  Day two of the consensus will

The IMSH 2011 Consensus is underway – standing room only.  The first session of presentations just concluded and has moved to breakout sessions.  The amount of interest for the Summit while not surprising seems to exceeded expectations.  This will make for lively discussion and provide insight for future research endeavors and agendas. All sorts of notable Society for Simulation in Healthcare notables and newcomers are participating in the summit.  Spotted this morning, Kim Leighton, Mary Patterson, Micheal Seropian, Jeff Taekman,
