Karen Boggio, RN is a Simulation Specialist and manages and coordinates the Human Patient Simulation Lab at Waukesha County Technical College in Pewaukee, WI where she is responsible for the operational and technical aspects of running a simulation lab. She has many years of simulation experience and provides presentations and workshops regarding integration and implementation of simulation into healthcare education. The Wakesha County Technical College Human Patient Simulation Lab has served as a model for many other laboratories throughout the Midwest. Ms. Boggio is also a consultant, assisting facilities in the design and development of simulation and nursing skills labs. In addition, Ms. Boggio has vast experience in the area of continuing nursing education. She has come to understand the strong relationship between game-based learning and simulation in the health sciences.
